By definition, control alt k sets the balance to 0 percent. If your sound card's balance is set correctly, using the left and right arrows is unnecessary and will do nothing but make the balance incorrect. Control alt and the keys on the right part of the home row change the balance. Control alt l changes it to fifty percent right. Control alt semicolon makes it 100 percent right. Control alt j makes it 50 percent left. Control alt h sets it to 100 percent left. control alt k is 0 or center, as the JAWS script measures the balance.

Using the left and right arrows does nothing to change the balance unless you are in the Winamp equalizer. And finally, all of these control alt commands are JAWS commands. A JAWS script tells Winamp to set its balance when you issue these command. It will not set the Winamp balance unless JAWS is running. Once it is set, it no longer matters if JAWS is running. The actual Winamp balance has been set but it is JAWS that has set it.

More to this.
hi there; I don't know whether or not you fixed your winamp but make sure that after you press alt/control k, that you use your right or left arrows to get to 50 percent; at that point your speakers should be balanced.
