You will get the answer to your question and learn how to stop this behavior in the following way:

Open the JAWS
Configuration Manager with insert 6. Use 6 on the main keyboard.
Once opened, if you wish, you can stop this behavior everywhere, regardless of which program you are running by working with the default configuration file. Use the command control shift d to open that file.
Open the menus and right arrow once.
Down arrow to html options and press enter.
Start tabbing through the items in the dialog. If you want to know what something is or does, use the command insert f1 to bring up context sensative help for the item. After hearing the message, close the message with escape. You are returned to where you were in the dialog. Keep tabbing. You will find the item that stops this behavior if it is unchecked and you can change it if you wish. It's named something like detect language. It tells JAWS to change the language JAWS speaks, if the synthesizer supports that ability. For example, when JAWS sees information in the code of the web site specifying Brittish English as the language of the page, the synthesizer wil use Brittish English if it can.

After you change the item, activate the ok button. Then close Configuration Manager with alt f4 and answer yes when asked if you want to save the change.

Subject: [accesscomp] JAWS changing voices on web pages

Hi all,

I'm not complaining, I'm just curious.

On some web pages JAWS reads in a British sounding voice.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Marcus
