Hi All, I am sending two tips today. This because in the one regarding internet access issues, I made one error that is now fixed. I went through the directions three times to make sure all is well. So that one and one on how to email from within Word are included below. * How to email a Word document to an email Did you know you can send a Word document as an email. That's right, not just as an attachment but as an email. Here's how to do it. 1) Make your word document. 2) using a keyboard: Press alt plus f. Using a mouse: Click on the file menu. 3. using a keyboard: Press the letter d for "send to." Using a mouse; Click on "send." 4. using a keyboard: press the letter e for "email." This will send your document as an email attachment. Using a mouse; Click on "email." 5. Wait a few seconds and the "to" box in an email message will appear. Type in the email address where this document is going. 6. Tab to subject and enter in a short topic sentence. 7. Press alt plus s in Outlook to send the document. You are placed back into the document. If you wish to save this document it can be done before or after sending the email. There is actually no need to save the file at all. *Internet access will not work even though it appears all settings are correct? Sometimes when all settings to connect to the Internet access are correct weather it be hardwired or wireless and still you can not connect. Here are some useful tips to try. *In Windows Xp 1. If using wirless, Always check if it is turned on. There is usually a button above the main keyboard that can be pressed to turn on wireless. On some colaptops there is a switch on the left side or on the very front edge by the microphone/head phone jacks that should be slide into an on position. 2. using keyboard: Press the windows key also called "start button." Using a mouse: Click the start menu. 3. If the start menu is in "classic view", using the keyboard: press the letter s until reaching "settings" followed by tapping the letter c and followed by tapping enter. Using the keyboard: If the start menu is in "xp view", press the letter c until reaching "control panel" followed by hitting enter. Using a mouse: If the start menu is in "classic view", click on "settings", then "control panel." If using the "xp view" for the start menu, click on the "control panel." 4. using the keyboard: Press the letter n until reaching "network connections." Using a mouse: Click on "network connections." 5. Highlight the type of connection you are having problems with. If it is hard wired, it is "Local Area Connection." If it is wireless, it will be "wireless network connection." 6. using the keyboard: Press alt plus enter. 7. From the keyboard: Arrow down to "internet protocol." 8. Tab to "properties" and press enter. 9. Tab once and make sure the radio button "obtain an ip address automatically" is selected. 10. Tab once and make sure "obtain a dns server address automatically" is selected. 11. Tab to apply and press the spacebar. 12. Tab to okay and press the spacebar. *Windows Seven: 1. Also check for the same button or slider switch if using wireless as mentioned above. 2. Press the "windows key" also referred to as "start button." 3. In the edit field type the following without quotes "network connections." 4. Arrow down and press enter on "view network connections." 5. Highlight the type of connection you are having problems with. If it is hard wired, it is "Local Area Connection." If it is wireless, it will be "wireless network connection." 6. using the keyboard: Press alt plus enter. 7. From the keyboard: Arrow down to "transmition control protocol internet protocol." ." 9. Tab to "properties" and press enter. 10. Tab once and make sure the radio button "obtain an IP address automatically" is selected. 11. Tab once and make sure "obtain a dns server address automatically" is selected. 12. Tab to apply and press the spacebar. 13.
