Autobiography--Plot

The story of Ronnie Milsap, a phenomenally successful crossover singer, "born
blind and raised in abject poverty by a mother who soon rejected him as a
curse" and sent him to a school for the blind. Discipline there was harsh, but
"he was also taught music and how to play the piano, not the Scruggs and
Flatt hillbilly music of his own Smoky Mountains, but Bach and Mozart. " In the
early 1970's he came to the attention of Elvis Presley, and by 1976 was
headlining his own show; millions of record sales and numerous Grammy awards
followed, with Milsap eventually becoming "one of the leaders of the country-pop
crossover phenomenon of the late 1970s and early 1980s."
