ok try this, when you first start the program, type in a well known artist and try and download from a lot of sources.
it may be that they have a slow connection there end. what you got the bandwidths set at? and have you checked the 2 boxes under the throttles?

hi sim again, okay that solved one problem, people can now download files
from me. but i still can't download anything myself. i still get the same
error: waiting for network reply ...

hi kev,
create a new notepad document in your WinMX root directory (e.g.;
C:/PROGRAM
FILES/WINMX)
and write this code in it:
[winmx]
ServerBindTcpPorts=6699
KillOldSession=1
Persistent=1
Then, save that as "wspcfg.ini" and run WinMX normally. This should get
you
up and running again.
