Hi Adrian.
If you just want to scan the occasional piece of mail or documents, you can use
the JAWS OCR function by following these steps:
Firstly place the document to be scanned face down on the scanner bed, ensuring
all edges are within the enclosure before closing the lid.
Next, press either numpad insert or the caps lock key depending on your
keyboard layout in combination with the space bar, a two tone click should be
heard.
Next press the letter O key followed by the letter A key to bring up the
Acquire Text dialog box. You will be asked to select your scanner, select the
scanner and whether you want to scan multiple pages.
Finally press the enter key to start the process, you will feel the scanner
head operating as it scans the document. The document will then appear in a
virtual window from where you can copy and review the text it has acquired.
For full instructions and additional functions please consult JAWS help.
All the best, Ibrahim.

Subject: [access-uk] using a cannon scanner to read documents
Importance: High
I need to start reading my own post and stuff, I have a canon scanner connected
to my desktop, what software do I need to enable me to use this scanner to read
my letters, would I be better off with a purpose built reading package, if so
which one?
Regards
Adrien
