hi all,

i'm a bit late coming in on the descussion on tv tuners for use on the
iphone but i have just received a different one of these to what i have
used in the past and this one seems brilliant.
i have had a hauppauge mobile tv tuner and have also been in communication
with elgato.
the hauppauge was not that friendly and i had to turn voiceover off to try
and change channels and even then it was hit and miss.
elgato technical help people told me that they didn't think their app would
work for me.
but i have just received this morning an iphone tv tuner called TVMAN which
i bought from 7dayshop.com i got it from them as they are selling it for
59.98 including postage at the moment and it was quite a bit more from
amazon.
i can't believe how accessible it is out of the box.
it creates it's own wi-fi network and once you have connected to it go into
the tvman app and tell it to scan for channels using the default region on
the home page and my one successfully found plenty of channels.
it initially came up playing bbc1 and at first it wasn't obvious how to
change things but after closing and re-opening the TVman app everything was
there and speaking with voiceover.
you can go into the EPG and it all speaks, if you put a memory card in the
TVman you can schedule it to record programs, if your watching a channel
live there is a record button for instant recordings.
on the home page of the app you have a list of all the available channels
and you can just tap on the one you want to view.
you can select to have subtitles, and i'm not sure but it does have a
setting for what i think is the audio channel you want to use but when i
was trying it the programs wasn't described so i couldn't change this
setting.
size wise it's just like holding an ipod and it has a removeable battery
that will give you 4 hours of viewing on a full charge, it comes with the
battery, an adapter so you can connect a roof top aerial an extending
aerial for on the move viewing, and two leads one that is the charging lead
and the other for connecting phones and such like to as it also works as a
power bank when on the move simply plug this lead into the side of the
TVman and plug your phone or anything that charges by USB into it for a top
up.
it only has two buttons and two sockets on the outside.
the on/off button that you hold for 2 seconds to turn it on and off.
a round socket to plug the aerial adapter into.
a micro USB socket for power in and out.
and the last button is for changing the wi-fi mode, as as well as creating
it's own wi-fi network you can tell it to connect to your own home wi-fi so
that anyone can view it on any device that is within your home wi-fi
network range.
