I certainly agree about the Bose Frames, I don't use SoundScape but the frames
are really good if you want your ears free.

I've used Blindsquare for years as my main navigation app but it has now been
replaced with Soundscape and a pair of Bose frames which is the best navigation
combination I've ever used. Your ears are completely free to hear what's going
on around you but you're still getting directions and feedback that is detailed
without being over chatty as Blindsquare could sometimes get.

Hello,
Is soundscape better for gps navigation than blindsquare?

The app works with stereo headphones and an iPhone. I don't think
it's available on Android, but I'm happy to be proved wrong on that.
It works by telling you where popular landmarks are, but it uses the
stereo to tell you it's location in the direction that the landmark
is. Here's a youtube video that demonstrates it:

The drawback is that you need to have headphone in, so it takes up
your valuable sense of hearing. Of course, you could always use bone
conducting headphones.

Subject: [access-uk] soundscape?
Hi there,
I had an assessment for a new guide dog few days ago and the trainer
mentioned some kind of GPS system for the blind.
I think she called it soundscape, and it's produced my microsoft.
Does anyone have more info on this device?
guide dogs tell me it could be up to two to three years before I get a
new dog, and I'm terrible with the cane.
I do have a trekker breeze, but this device, according to the trainer
will tell you what shops you are passing. Now that would be cool! If
i can get one that is.
Thanks.
Bobby
