Hi Jackie.Well, my typing is a little unconventional to say the least, my fingers are everywhere (on the keyboard that is) *big cheeky grin*, but I guess I see where your coming from. I still however manage to bash out anything up to 75 words per minute.
Take care, Ibrahim.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

Hi IbrahimIt's just a bit unconventional to a typist to have it where it is on the NC10, but you get used to it. I just have to stretch out my right pinky finger a bit further and not bump the back slash where the shift would normally be.Jackie Cairns Braille Specialist Email: Jackie.Cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sight and Sound Technology Ltd Welton House North Wing Summerhouse Road Moulton Park Northampton NN3 6WD Telephone: 01604 798024 Fax: 01604 798090 Web: www.sightandsound.co.uk -----Original Message-----From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ibrahim GucukogluSent: 11 June 2009 13:58 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: samsung NC110 - 120 Hi Jackie.Yes, the right shift key is directly below the enter key. Incidentally, why is this stupid? I suppose having two Samsung machines, I don't have a problem with it *smile*. I paid £375 including delivery for mine, but I believe it has come down in price. As I said, www.saveonsamsung.com have it at a very competitive price at the moment and their offering free next day delivery. All the best, Ibrahim. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jackie Cairns" <jackie.cairns@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2009 1:53 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: samsung NC110 - 120Hi Ibrahim Following this thread with interest and curiosity just prompts me to ask if the right shift key is in the stupid place below the enter key where it is on the Samsung NC10? What's pricing like for these new machines by the way? Many thanks. To answer your second question first, yes, you'll have to go through a setup process when you first switch on the machine. Some users have reported that they can use narrator, however I strongly recommend sighted help as there are some elements of the initial setup which are not particularly accessible and one specifically that is totally unusable with screen access of any kind. Now to answer your first question, the page up and down, home and end keys are next to the up arrow which is in the middle of a 6 key cluster on the bottom right hand side of the keyboard. Page up and down are the keys usual function, however when you press the function key which is the next key right of control, you get home and end. This means that whenever you want to go to the top or bottom of a document, you must remember to press the function key. As for other notable differences from the standard laptop layout, the backslash and slash keys are next to the right shift key, backslash first then slash. Also, unlike with most laptops, the windows key is on the right hand side next to the control key. One other thing of note is that the FN key when pressed on its own acts as an application key, similar in function to pressing shift and F10 or the right mouse button. I find this particularly handy especially in applications like Skype for instance. Other than these acceptions, you will have no problem with the keyboard on this and you'll find that these things become natural to you as you use the machine. All the best and please let me know if you get one or two disks in the box with your computer.----- Original Message ----- From: terry cooper <mailto:terrycooper94@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2009 1:13 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: samsung NC110 - 120 Hi Ibrahim I don't suppose there is anywhere a document that tells you where all the different keys are, is there? i.e. insert key, page up and down, home and end, etc, for the N120? I presume like usual, when the machine is powered up, you get to the point whereby you have to enter details like, name, country time and date, and having to use narrator? Thanks for any help. I only have the N120, however I've seen the entire range. The N110 is merely an updated version of the NC10, its practically the same except the slightly enlarged touchpad, the touch of colour design, the glossy screen and the slightly increased battery life. The N120 builds on the N110 by providing a much improved battery, up to 8.5 hours normal operation, the bigger keyboard as described and the better sound system. I've never used or seen an NC20 which is the 12 inch machine but that's too close to a laptop in my opinion so I'm not interested in it. I believe the N120 is available from a wide range of places, but I bought mine from www.saveonsamsung.com. Be aware though that the newer netbooks don't come with recovery disks, you will have to use the Samsung recovery software to create your own recovery media. I found this out to my cost when I bought my N120. Do both of them have the better sound quality than the nc 10 and nc20? If you have the nc110, was it pcworkld you got it from, as it seems to be exclusive to them at the moment. thanks. terry----- Original Message ----- From: Ibrahim Gucukoglu<mailto:ibrahim_gucukoglu@xxxxxxxx> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, June 11, 2009 10:18 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: samsung NC110 - 120 Hi. Yes, I own one of these machines and I have to say I'm totally satisfied with it. It has a bigger keyboard, thus is ever so slightly bigger and the keyboard with a few small notable exceptions is full sized. The speaker system on this machine is superior in my opinion to the NC10 and from what I've heard of the N110 with its own built in subwoofer to provide extra base and depth to the sound. You also get SRS true surround sound software in place of the Samsung variant Enhanced Digital Sound. If you want more specific information, please feel free to email me off list and I'll be happy to help you further. If so, any feed back welcome. I'm not sure that the nc120 is available yet in the UK, but I believe it is supposed to have better quality speakers than the 110. Any feed back appreciated. terry ______________________________________________________________________ This email has been scanned by the MessageLabs Email Security System.
