The 6700 will only work under Nokia's OVI suite which as you have found is
not very accessible. If you just want to copy music, pictures or video then
the best way is to connect it to your PC using the USB cable and set the USB
mode to mass storage. You can then just use windows explorer to copy files
as normal onto the phone.
