You ask for general discussion lists, and I think you've enquired about vi-gen
recently and mmay have joined that list, so here's a few more from Tom
Laurimer's White Stick Site:

Chat Around The Clock List.
 Topic: General chat.
 chat-around-the-clock-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Chat Kingdom List.
 Topic: General chat.
 chat-kingdom-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Chat Messenger List.
 Topic: General chat.
 chat-messenger-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Gabble General Discussion List.
 Topic: General chat.
 gabble-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Help Needed List.
Topic: Ask for help, even non computer related.
 Help-needed-list-subscribe@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

No indication that these lists are necessarily VI related but being on
Whitestick, they may well be.
I've a feeling there used to be another one called 'anything goes' but that's
not listed there.

This sort of list could be very high traffic if nothing's off-topic, though I'd
hope there'd be the usual moderation about personal remarks and abuseiveness
towards individuals.

Cheers,
