There is a short cut. It's not brilliantly obvious and you'll need a couple of practices before you suss it and use it accurately first time. Rub your finger half way down the right hand side of the screen until you hear 'table index'. Next, put your finger about a centimetre or two above the bottom left hand corner of the active screen. You might be best to just put your finger on the very bottom left and push upwards a little bit to achieve this move. This puts you in table index mode. So while in this mode, if you swipe up and down it'll take you through the alphabet. A, B, C, D, etc. If you take it to the start letter of the contact you're looking for, you can then start swiping left to right to go through all the contacts under that letter. It's a hundred times quicker than the "read every single contact" method that you're presently using :) Hope this helps. -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Annabell Sent: 14 September 2010 23:45 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: iPhone Questions Ah thanks Ed, I'll try all those things. Sometimes I try to end a call as you suggest but it doesn't always work. I'm getting there with regard to a lot of the iPhone functions, but the phone itself, I find difficult. When I go to contacts, of whhich I have around 200, I find it very tedious to find the person to whom I want to send a text. Is there a shortcut to find a particular name? Thanks for all your help.Annabell. ----- Original Message -----From: Edward Green <mailto:edward@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, September 14, 2010 8:14 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: iPhone Questions Hi Annabell, Apologies if someone has answered your questions already. On your first point, flicking with one finger up or down in a text should navigate you character by character. This does depend on what you have your roter set to. This is when you place 2 fingers on the screen and turn them as though you are operating a dial. On your second point, as far as I can tell you have to hold your phone flat which puts it on speaker phone in order for the keypad to appear. This is particularly annoying for online banking situations. To hang up a call, do a 2 fingered double tap. Hope this helps. When putting in text, if you want to go back to correct a word, how can you get your cursor on the correct letter, without deleting everything after it? When phoning a bank, or topping up phone, you have to press numbers for options. How can you do this? I can't seem to get to the numbers whilst on the call. Also, I'm having trouble hanging up calls, what is the easiest way to do this? Many thanks. Annabell. ________________________________ No virus found in this incoming message.
