Different systems treat outgoing mail differently. A friend of mine has all his email settings at text only but once the outgoing email goes through exchange server to be sent then a long disclaimer is attached to the email and it is converted to html. He has no control over this and hence all the companys email is sent in html. as Ray indicated, web based eamil is usually setnt in html by default as it often contains fancy fonts and images. This is the preferred format for advertising to be sent as you can simply click on web links in html email rather than copy and pasting them into the browser. hth, Mark Threadgold www.ccr100.co.uk -----Original Message----- From: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Ray's Home Sent: 30 January 2006 15:54 To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [access-uk] Re: html and plain text I don't know a general answer to your question Derek as to whether its possible to choose between sending messages as plain text or HTML, but I'd guess its down to the ISP being used and the webmail program or design of the page they are using. From what I've seen of lists using webmail they are much more prity in appearance than the plain text formatting we are used to on these lists. Not only in font style, but using different colours for the senders message and the messages he/she is replying to. also pictures are often included too. So, I would say nearly always people are using HTML formatting with webmail. I'll be interested to see what others reply on this subject.
