What it is actually saying is, "You once had this WDC gizmo
attached to your system.  Well I (windows) can't find it, so
how the heck do you expect me to disconnect it, unless you
reconnect it and try again to disconnect it?"

I think if you do Insert F11 and arrow down tab once hit
enter then arrow
down  there is a link to close it.

Hi,

Do you have a memory stick or other USB disk connected
when the icon
is there?  If so I think the icon will go when the USB
device goes.
You should click on the icon and choose "eject hardware"
or "remove
hardware" or similar/whatever it says.
