[access-uk] hissing sound with USB sound adapter

Hi,
I've bought a USB soundcard adapter. When I plug the headphones into it, it
plays sound ok but I can hear an annoying background hissing sound that is
constant. I was wondering whether there was any way to to fix / remove this?
