I couldn't even get that far because my speaker was no longer being
recognised. To be honest, the GGMM app is the worst kind of example of good
accessibility, it always has been that way, a real shame.

Yes, you can.
When you first open the app, it should offer you a new version of the
firmware.
You can certainly do it on Android.
