No, that's not it either. I have tried that. In fact, I have tried just about 
everything I can think of and these descriptions are not going away.

  go into the view menu  in any folders,  with Alt+V, press down arrow   and 
press enter after you hear list rather than details, you'll uncheck details and 
check list view this way and your problem should be solved.

    Hi,
    Somehow I have managed to configure Jaws to read out the descriptions of 
files and folders of all the programs desktop such as my documents, My Music, 
and so on.  Tells me the size, type, etc.Could someone please, please, tell me 
how to reconfigure Jaws so that it won't read them? It's driving me crazy.
