Hi Steve.

You've got a DVD player that cost you a cosy grand? Now I know you're mad LOLOL.

All the best, Ibrahim.

Nothing wrong with old Ibrihim, I've still got a thousand pound Arcam DVD
which has every other method of connection bar HDMI! You know what Phil
from East Enders says? "Oldie but goody!" smiles!

Hi Mark.

If your DVD player doesn't have an HDMI output, you'll have to connect it to
your TV directly using SCART, and if you don't have sufficient connectivity
ports on your TV to connect it you'll need to buy additional equipment like
a SCART switch box to connect your devices. I would be surprised if your
DVD player doesn't have an HDMI output socket though unless its really old.

As for the initial setup of the box, if you buy it from RNIB directly then
the latest firmware and text to speech engine files are already installed,
so on the initial tuning setup screen you'd press the blue button which is
bottom row last button on the remote to enable speech. If you bought your
box elsewhere, you may need to upgrade the firmware and install the text to
speech support though you'd need a pair of eyes to help you do this. Try
connecting your box, tuning your TV to the box and pressing the yellow
button to see whether you get speech and if not, you'll need to follow the
procedure for upgrading the firmware on the TVonics website.

All the best and good luck, Ibrahim.

Hi Mark.

The SCART socket on the TVonics box is an output socket not an input; You
need to use the HDMI sockets on the box for devices like DVD players and
other equipment.

All the best, Ibrahim.
