Hi Alan.

You can convert files on your hard drive to other formats using CDEX. You'll find the option in the convert menu, just arrow down until you see convert wav files to compressed format. You can also activate this with function key F11.

Personally, I find goldwave easier to use for batch conversions and although it's not free, it is for a considerable amount of time before you have to pay the small asking price. I've used it for a couple of years in free mode just doing conversions and some minimal editing.

CD ex,exclusively for ripping . but I want to convert a batch of ,wav files

I've never used the free switch program but have found cdex very good at
converting audio files into different formats.  Plus the fact you can do
several at once is useful.
