Hi Niamh

Yes it is, as long as you know the number of the recipient.  Choose New
Message from the menu, Create Text Message, and in the to field, type the
phone number.  Once you've done that, arrow down once to the text field, and
write what you want to say.  Then press Send, and hopefully it should go!!
