You don't want to turn off automatic updates, even filleting them as some people used to do would not be recommended these days, you can extend the scope of Windows Update by customising it to offer other useufl updates. Hi George, Billy and all, I've been watching this thread with interest, as I am running IE7 on an Acer Travelmate Laptop which is also running Windows XP Home and Office XP Home. I have not as yet turned Automatic Updates off in order to receive the latest update for the .Net Framework, but having read George's message to which I am now replying, I would appreciate some clarification on whether I should turn automatic updates off or not, and also whether I should look for this .net framework update in custom or express updates, as have not seen any reference to it as yet in Windows update. I apologise if the answers to my two part question have been given in earlier messages on this thread. Thank you in advance for any advice.
