[access-uk] access-uk] Tvonics DTR500, how to copy / compare files please?

Dear David

Making any changes to the box including tampering with the hard drive
would, of course, invalidate any warranty.

I don't think the files would show up in any case if you connected it to
a computer.

I would try unplugging the box and leaving it for at least half an hour.
There have been instances when boxes have failed to record from standby.
This procedure has fixed this problem.

Please contact our team on 08459 000015 or 0207 391 2280 if you need
further help.

Regards

Subject: [access-uk] Tvonics DTR500, how to copy / compare files please?

Hi Group,

My TVonics box is acting up. It's not firing up when it should to start
recording programmes. If I turn it on with the remote then it does
realise it should be recording and starts the recording immediately.
I don't know if its a corruption of the software on the hard drive,
hardware failure or perhaps BIOS corruption.
I have a spare box and would like to try and swap the hard drives to see
if that solves the problem.

I'd like to ask, is it possible using an external enclosure to copy over
unwatched recorded material from one hard drive to the other. Is it
enough to just copy specific program files over or are their index files
that would need copying as well?

Are the system files easily identifiable such that I could do a
comparison between the files on the two hard drives to check for
corruption and copy from the working machine to the failed one if I find
a difference?

The one year retailers (RNIB) warrentee would expire on May 16. I could
ask them if they can simply except it back if there is a hardware fault.

Very best wishes,
David
