Hi Martin, I think you're the one who deserves the thanks. You pointed me at
copying the files over. Prior to that I'd mad a recovery flash drive using
ifd, and one using ifw, looking for how to enter the information.
When I'd tried to run imagew.exe without the imagew.ini I got the reminder
screen. At least with the file there it'll know I'm kosher regardless of
what happens.
Bryan Smart can have no idea how valuable this is for blind people. We
could do with more like him.

Glad to be of help, I couldn't have done any of this if you hadn't posted re the boot disk last year. I tried to amend the boot disk to encorporate the Image for Windows program but this woulde have taken lots of time and effort.
The file you mentioned below is not essential. You need to make sure your licence file is read only though.

I've come across this drive letter swapping myself, I just went into the drives to see what was on the drive to see which one to use. When you identify the usb drive it matters not, just backup to that drive that contains the image for windows files.

If you still want to use Image for Windows there is a solution, you posted last June/July info on Brian Smart's boot disk. I use the basic boot disk not the windows install one. From the boot you can navigate to your USB drive
Image for Windows supports being run as a stand-alone (portable) app. You would just need to copy the following files to the USB drive and then run imagew.exe after booting to your WinPE boot disk.
imagew.exe
cdboot.f35
cdboot.ifd
ifw.ini
ifwlang.dll (if it exists)
imagew.ini (should contain your license key)
The imagew.ini file contains your Image for Windows license key in the following format:
[License]
Key=John Smith 000000-111111-222222-333333-444444-555555-666666-777777-888888-999999
After copying the file to the USB drive and adding your license information, make sure to mark the file as READ-ONLY (skipping this will result in needing to enter your key each time you run IFW after a reboot).
