Cant comment as to whether I sound professional or not, however, I do this
on a regular basis.
I use broadcasting software called Station Playlist, and JAWS as my screen
reader, and Brian Hartgen has written some terrific scripts which make
almost every aspect of the software highly accessible.

I use two soundcards, a USB soundcard for the broadcasting output, and the
computers built in soundcard so I can hear JAWS speech and it doesn't go to
air!
I also use that second soundcard for a preview player which station playlist
has, enabling me to listen to track intros etc off air while a song is going
to air so, for example I can time the intro on the fly.
In addition to speech output I also use Braille, this obviously is a very
personal thing, but for me I wouldn't like to broadcast without having
braille, for a variety of reasons.
That's a very brief description of how I do things.
I should also say that NVDA has a plug in for Station Playlist which
although I don't use, several presenters on my station, www.the-phoenix.net
do, and find it works well for them.

I'm looking into the possibility of doing a radio show on a radio station
