Thanks Alex. It's ok. I've sorted it. I went to the run dialogue and typed in firewallcpl, which I got from a Google search. It then brought up the firewall dialogue which told me that it was turned on. I thought I'd accidentally turned it off somehow this afternoon, because I got a balloon message to say that my Windows firewall was turned off, to fix this problem, click here which I failed to do so that's why I thought it was still off. It's now on so I hope I don't touch it any more. I'm not sure how I turned it off in the first place but never mind, I've sorted it anyway. Thanks for your help though and I hope you are back to your normal self again after last weekend.

Hi Sue I've just had a look at the support centre in win help. It seems that youare supposed to log onto your computer as an administrator to turn firewalloff and on. I have never fiddled with the firewall and I wouldn't like to go any further with advice and think you ought to wait until someone more proficient than myself to give you specific procedural help.
