[access-uk] Windows XP Problem

Hello,

Over the last couple of weeks I've been experiencing a problem when booting
my PC. On occasions it freezes just before the Windows XP welcome screen is
displayed, and it either re-boots again automatically or sometimes I have to
re-boot it myself.

I've had a look in the Event Viewer in Administrative Tools under Control
Panel to see if anything was logged and found the following error:

The device Root\LEGACY_WINIO\0000 disappeared from the system
without first being prepared for removal.

This would indicate that I had removed something from the system without
going through the Safely Remove Hardware procedure first, but this is not
the case as I always use that when removing either my USB thumb drive or my
BookCourier.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what I can do to get things sorted
out? If the USB support on my PC is malfunctioning, can I do anything to
fix it? I really don't want to have to re-install XP if I can possibly help
it, especially as once the PC is booted, it works fine.

Thanks for any help,

Caroline.
