Brian you can use your existing email accounts with Windows Live Mail.

I have installed windows live mail. It is asking me to create a windows
live hotmail account. I have several email accounts on ntlworld.com and
would like to continue using these. do i have to have a hotmail account,
or can i just set up accounts using my ntlworld.com accounts?
