Hi Vince. GW Connect doesn’t support Facebook chat as of yet. I do use it but I am looking for a program that works with System Access when it comes to using Facebook chat. It's a ree Skype program from GWMicro, and it seems you don't need Skype installed to use it. Mor info here:- http://www.gwmicro.com/App_Central/Apps/App_Details/?scriptid=1353 Vince. ----- Original Message ----- From: Saqib To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, November 02, 2012 9:57 AM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Windows 8 and messaging? Hi. I’m using System Access for my screenreader and it won’t read text from the chat dialog so standard Skype program is not an option for me. GW Connect doesn’t support Facebook chat yet and Miranda doesn’t notify me of new incoming messages. System Access won’t read the message dialog in WLM 2012 either so I would be interested to see if the messenging app is accessible in Windows 8. Though it’s true that skype offers all this, I’ve had many contacts on my microsoft messiging account that do not use skype, so if they discontinued it it’d mean tht all these people would have to create a skype account. This would only work if Microsoft would do some sort of seemless migration of all windows live accounts to skype. I’ve just looked this up on Wikipedia as I myself will be moving over to Windows 8 shortly, from what I’ve been able to find out there is a messaging app which replaces the functionality found in Windows Live Messenger yet lets you connect your other messaging services such as AOL and Yahoo to your Microsoft Live ID account for cross platform communications. I’m surprised Microsoft still run the MSN service because Skype offers the same functionality as MSN and much better voice and video communication, but hey, what do I know. All the best, Ibrahim. Hello, I understand based on the stuff I read that in windows 8 there is no more windows live products, therefore obviously no windows live mail, which is replaced by the e-mail app. But what about windows live messenger? Is it still possible to communicate with your messenger and even facebook contacts if one has synched the FB account with windows live? If so how is this done? Is this proccess accessible with screenreaders, in particular jaws and NVDA? If any know info about this I would be greatful for your help/tips. Thanks!
