Catherine, As Christopher says you can turn off the notification of new
version message in Preferences, or you might consider upgrading to the
latest version - I see that 5.30 is now out although I have not yet tried it.
I am not so sure about the Classic/Modern Skin issue since, if I understand
your message correctly, you have only just encountered your problems. I
would agree though that it is always advisable to select Classic Skin during
the installation process.

I suspect that the reason that the L key is not working is that the main
window is not selected. Press alt and F, cursor right once, and then go
down the list and press Enter if necessary to select it. Then the L key
should work as normal.

I suspect that your initial problem arose because you mistook the dialogue
about upgrading for one asking you to send user information - in that alt
and L does activate the Later button.

Hope that at least something in the above helps,

Douglas
