There's nothing rare about that Jim. Occasionally a device doesn't require a driver, or Windows contains a driver that will work with it, but in most cases a device won't work until the driver's been installed.

Hi List,

I bought a bunch of stuff for my netbook yesterday, a wireless keyboard, an external dvd burner and a multi-card reader. In every case, they wouldn't run untill I installed the drivers that came with each product.
Is this typical of netbooks?
How come it was happy with my mobile hard drive?
