Just to make sure I am understanding you correctly, you are saying this tape
can’t be used on a standard Perkins Brailler? Mine is at least 50 years old!

Hi Alison,
The Reizen is the plastic version of the Dymo. So if you don’t like the Dymo
then you’ll like the Reizen even less.
As for the “Tape with the Smart Brailler” – That would be the lightweight
plastic adaptor (it costs £2.13) that I previously mention where you can write
labels on your Perkins Brailler (Next Generation) which cost £749.00 if you
don’t already have one, or the newer Perkins Smart Brailler which is even more
expensive at £1,795.00. It uses the same tape as the Dymo / Reizen.
I hope that helps to clarify things a little better.

I do have the metal Dymo gun but find it incredibly fiddly to use with any
accuracy. I was hoping the Reizen might be an improvement but from what you are
saying, it is simply a plastic version of the Dymo Gun, so not what I want.
The other item mentioned in the RNIB Product Update was tape for the Smart
Brailler. Does anyone know what this is?
It seems that we are not alone in the UK in no longer being able to access a
variety of labelling. My friend in Germany also is experiencing the same
difficulty. There used to be such a wide range of labels but now we seem to be
left with the only option to cut our own to size.

Hi Mo, that’s the name I was trying to remember in my reply; Dymo. The metal
version were much better than those plastic whatnots of today. Paul

Hi.
As far as I understand it, they are a plastic version of the metal dymo gun
which RNIB used to sell. They're OK as long as they don't jam.
Very best wishes,
Mo.

There is no way i am paying over £400 for a labeller! I only need it for

Hi.
Techno Vision sell sticky back plastic which is tractor fed. Although it's not
in label form, it's quite easy to cut it down. There's also the 6dot labeller.
You can read about it at:

Very best wishes,

Hi Alison,
I agree with you about the lack of braille labelling from the RNIB these days.
I have the original metal version of the Reizen labeller and they are / were
brilliant. It’s still going strong. But the newer plastic ones are flimsy in my
opinion, and don’t last all that long.
The tape used in the Reizen can also be used with a cheap adaptor which are
available from the RNIB on a Perkins Brailler if you have one of those?
Other than that I don’t really know of any other labellers available today. I
have been trying to source tractor-fed labels that I could use with my embosser
but haven’t yet found a supplier.

I’ve just been going through the latest RNIB Products Update where they are
promoting items for sale. I wondered what is a smart Brailler – they are
advertising tape for this and what is the Braille Labeller (Reizen RL350).
Since RNIB no longer provide the wide range of labels tat they used to, I am
having to buy sheets of foil labelling paper and cut my labels to size. If
there was a reasonably priced labeller, I’d certainly be interested and this is
currently being advertised at around £31.
