I see now. Let me think, several combinations work for me well.
I find font style sans serif fonts work great for me. Anything like Arial or Verdana. Times New Roman is a pain to try and read.
Backgrounds and font colours. Dark back grounds are best and light coloured fonts. Dark blue back, yellow font,
mid green back, black text works as well.
any dark background with white text. if the text is black, a much lighter background is best. However illuminous backgrounds are not good. They are just too bright then and produce excess glare.
Tables and frames are quite good for me if the site is full of info. If things are sectioned off, I can concentrate on that section alone and, move along to the next section.

I'm developing different stylesheets to control the look and feel of my web site. Each visitor to the site will be able to select the colour scheme or layout of the site that they prefer.
To this end, I'm interested in finding out what combinations of colours work best for different people. The elements of the site that can be changed in colour are:

What does this relate to? I ask as, contrast is a big deal for me too. I find what I can see depends on the colour combination of both fonts and background colours.

I find the middle range of blue best, not too dark and not too light
Just my personal preference, others may well think differently depending on the quality of their vision.

I tend to like yellow on blue. It does not really matter to me whether it is bright yellow or a cream colour but I find the contrast between the yellow and blue very effective and easy to see.
Just my viewpoint, others may well have different ideas.
