Hi BillyWayfinder Access is GPS software that is loaded onto the mobile and can be used in conjunction with TALKS. Ian has it on his phone, and loves it to bits. You can put a route in and it tells you what's happening as you go along. Works very well with speech and is totally great fun. It's just a hobby Ian enjoys, not as a mobility aid or anything more serious. He uses a tiny external Bluetooth GPS receiver, and it's very neat. Hope that helps. What is the licence situation for Mobile Speak out of interest? Is it like TALKS in that it's one copy per phone? And what does it cost these days?Much appreciated. It's only research on my part, but it's nice to have a fair comparison in case I'm ever asked when training with people.Jackie----- Original Message ----- From: "Matthew Allbones" <mallbones@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, December 04, 2007 2:42 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: mobile speak?Hi I have not used Talks, but I have had to do quite a lot of research recently, changing handsets etc, so I can't offer a comparison. Iorignially went for mobile speak because I was buying just before talkswas released. I now stick with it because I am too mean to pay for a different software package, when I can buy the upgrade fir less.As far as the Internet access is concerned I will have a go and get backto you. I tried it when I first got an accessible phone nad it was a disaster, so I haven't looked at it since. Sorry, not much help. Hi MattCould I just sneak in here and ask you a couple of questions please asyou use Mobile Speak?Firstly, what is the difference between it and TALKS, if you use both? And, secondly, is Mobile Speak any better on the Internet using a mobile, for example, Vodafone Live? Using TALKS, I've managed in thepast to download a couple of ringtones from Vodafone Live, but it isn'teasy because it's like Flash. I'm just curious as a comparison really. I do some voluntary mobile phone training, and like to know these things for reference. Many thanks. Specifically it is the phones that use the sybian60operating system. There is a website that lists allof the handsets, something like www.symbian.com, although there is a link from the Codefactory www.codefactory.es website. They are the firm that makemobilespeak. If he has 3.25 then I would suggest he downloads the next versionbeforehe installs it. My understanding is that the launched v3.32 lastFriday, which was a bit annoying as I only upgraded to v3.25 a coupleofweeks ago.
