Hi Ian,

Oh yes, I agree, but Steve actually said they were cheaper, or I thought he
did. On a per voice basis, they are a lot dearer. In fact for 65 quid, you
potentially get 50 voices if you rae multilingual. I have never known better
value for money, in speech synthesisers.

All the best

Steve

Steve

Surely that depends on what you want.

Hi Steve,

I will have to correct you there.

The Ivona voices are about 25 pounds per voice. The NVDA Vocaliser voices are
65 pounds which gives you access to all the voices, not just one voice. So
which is cheaper?

All the best

Subject: [access-uk] Voice Synths for NVDA

Hi All,

There’s been some discussion on the list about using the Vocalizer voices on
NVDA. Yup, they’re not bad and quite realistic but for information, Vocalizer
is not the only additional synth you can use on NVDA, Ivona have a range of
exceptionally high quality voices including British Amy and Brian and a wide
range of American voices including a very pleasant Sally voice. They can be
bought directly from the ivona website or from RNIB for considerably less than
the vocaliser voices. You can also get a trial license for them. I think the
British pack from RNIB is around £40.

Try www.ivona.com and have a listen to the samples.

Best wishes

Steve
