Thank you for pointing me there. I had looked before and found nothing
useful. Now I know why. Navigating to software, SD card tips and tricks
-JAWS doesn't read the table with the information. My daughter read it to me
and unless I have misunderstood it, at least as far as the storage
arrangement and SD cards is concerned Marshmallow seems to be a retrograde
step. I have put a link below that points out the pitfalls with adoptable
storage. On the other hand if you keep the card in its normal format only
photos and media content can be transferred on to it.

Thank you for the suggestion. No I haven't. It is not primarily data which
is taking up the room but apps so I'm not sure that I would be able to move

Have you tried using Total Commander? It is rather like Windows Explorer.
You can move files about quite easily. It can be downloaded from the Play
Store.
