Hi Caroline, When you turn on the TVonics for the first time,, it doesn't speak, despite the manual suggesting that it does. Leave it for a minute or two, then press the blue button (bottom row, far right); that should activate the speech. If Ibrahim's and this suggestion fail, you may just have a duff box, or possibly, the speech software may not have been installed onto the hard drive. If only i were being payed by the RNIB! lol. Mo. On 20/12/2012 20:11, Caroline Ford wrote:We have just got a TVonics set-top recorder and have attached it to the TV as specified. When I turned on the box, no speech came on, but a messageonthe screen asked if we wanted to start tuning. We waited for several minutes and pressed the far right button on the bottom row of the handset, but there was still no speech, so we pressed OK to start tuning, thinkingwecould probably activate speech later. It has now been tuning for over half an hour which seems excessive. Itdoesstate in the manual that tuning can take a while and that if there is nothing to be found, a message will be displayed. So far, there has been nothing except the word Tuning on the screen. Can anyone let me know if it is normal for the box to take this long to tune, and if not, how do we stop tuning without upsetting anything.
