Tools - Options - Advanced.

He needs to go to the Updates tab on that section.

Check the option for "Never check for updates." It will say it's not recommended, but I've never had a problem with that.

Also make sure that the "Use a background service to install updates" box is unchecked, which is below the update options box.

Hope this helps.

Hi all,
A friend of mine is trying to use an older version of Thunderbird and every
time he installs the older version, it automatically updates to the latest
version, which he can't use with Jaws.  Is there a way to turn off the
automatic update feature so that he can stick to his older version without
being forced to update to the latest one.
Any help would be appreciated, and thanks.

Cheers,
Sandra.
