Hi John, I found the cookies folder like you said and all that is in there is something called index so I've left it how it is as I have no idea what index is all about? Thanks for the help. I'll save your instructions and do this from time to time as my computer does often run slow eventually leading to a reformat, so this may save me sometime! lol Thanks again, I've learnt something new and your instructions are very clear. Christine.---John Wrote:---Hi Christine, either you can do it manually as foolows: click on my computer. go to local drive C. go to documents and settings, then to the administrator folder, which may be called administrator, or may be called your name. In there you'll find a folder called cookies. Select all the files with control a and press delete. You'll get a message from windows asking you if you want to delete them. Say yes. The only file in there it won't delete is index.dat. Alternatively, if you let me have your email address I'll send you the programme I use to clear my cookies. My email address is johncoley@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx John. ----- Original Message ----- From: Christine Weetman To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Tuesday, August 24, 2010 5:22 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Swap file help please How do you clear out cookies pPlease? Hi Andy, I take it he clears his cookies? If he doesn't over time that will slow a system to a crawl. In Control Panel. To set these values, click System, click Advanced system settings , and then click Settings under Performance. Typically 1.5 times your installed RAM is the number most home-users need. How much RAM do you have int hat machine? It may be an idea to upgrade. A message pops ups saying something about shortage of virtual space or memory, and if I recall correctly, this is something to do with the swap file, but I don't know where to access it, or what to do with it <smile> Help appreciated - Andy
