Hi Edward, This is weird. OK try this. If you can get in, turn off Window-Eyes load at start up. Reboot the machine. Manually load WIndow-Eyes. Does it work? If yes, then turn startup back on. Failing that, if it doesn't work, go to the Window-Eyes icon, press context key and select Run As Administrator. You should only need to do this once. I'm not sure why this happened to you, I've never seen it before but I've heard of it. By the way, 8.2 is out now for your free download. I recently sent the unit off to Sony for repair. It has come back, and Window-Eyes no longer speaks under normal operation. I have Window-Eyes set to load on start-up, but it will only speak in the secure User Account Control dialog boxes - one of these pops up most times when I start my computer asking me if the Java updater can run. If I load JAWS once Windows has started, JAWS speaks and I can see that Window-Eyes is running by launching the Window-Eyes control panel. I have gone into sndvol and nothing appears to be low or muted. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can try? Why would Window-eyes speak in User Account Control dialogs and not elsewhere? Thanks for any suggestions. Ed
