What is your reason for wanting the HD box exactly? I thought they had the same space as the most up to date standard Sky+ boxes. I should say actually that Sky is rolling out new software to the HD boxes in the next week or two which will mean major changes. The way of navigating this new software will be a lot different to the current method. There are a lot of new great features in the software but I haven't heard of any new accessibility features. The only one which could benefit would be the ability to do a full search, not just searching by first letter as is the case at the moment. I'll speak to sky before deciding yea or nae whether to purchase this offer as it would mean a 12 month subscription to the HD channels. All the best and thanks for your advice to date. ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Friday, February 20, 2009 2:44 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Sky HD Offer The Anytime that is on the Sky + box only has a dozen or so programs to watch at any one time. They are automatically deleted after a while. You can't just watch anything on it. All Anytime is on the Sky+ box is a selection of editors picks, premiers of new show/films etc. You might be refering to the Anytime on PC which is completely inaccessible, or at least it was last time I tried it six months ago. Nice one, sounds easy enough, but there must be hundreds of programs available to watch using Anytime, is there a way to narrow down the search? Sorry if I sound like a toff, I just want to make sure that the extra tenner I'll have to pay to get the HD channels which is a term of the offer is money well spent for me. ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2009 9:31 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Sky HD Offer Once your box is turned on, you press the TV Guide button which is the most left button on the second row down on the remote. Then you press the Red button which is on the left of the row above the number buttons which are at the bottom of the remote like a telephone keypad. This then brings you in to a list of programs that the box has recorded from Anytime. It then plays a section of the video as you move on to each one. You would then press sleect to play it. Sorry if this is blindingly obvious, but could you give me an example of accessing the anytime function? I don't know about you, but I can't see anything, I'd be using a stereo system only as I don't have a TV license because I don't use a TV. ----- Original Message ----- From: Peter To: access-uk@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2009 3:38 PM Subject: [access-uk] Re: Sky HD Offer The AnyTime recordings on the box are the easiest part of the box to access so yes you will see your James Bond films. Thanks for letting me know about the problem with the Pace boxes. Although I haven't heard of this myself, a quick call to sky assured me that in the event of me being given a faulty box or a box that develops a problem during the first year, they'll come out and replace it. Furthermore, I don't even know what make of box I will get as it depends on inventory available at the time over which I have no control. If you have a sky box however, I'd very much like to know whether you can use the Anytime function which allows you to watch pre-recorded programs on demand that have been hand picked. For instance, currently running on the modern greats movies is a season of bond flicks which are also available on Anytime to quote an example. All the best, Ibrahim.
