Hi Darran
Yes, pretty much however there are some slight interface differences between
the sky glass and stream. The stream is a box you plug into your existing TV
and is sold as an optional extra if you want to add Sky to different TVs in
your house. Because the stream does not have a built-in microphone like the sky
glass, you do not have voice control and have to use a remote control with a
built-in microphone for this purpose. I’m not sure if a voice remote is
included with the Sky stream as I don’t have either glass or stream, however
you can always reach out to the Sky Accessibility Customer Service team on
03442410333 if you are thinking about moving to the sky stream/glass platform.
Good luck.

Sorry if this is a daft question, I haven't really been following the latest
iterations of Sky products, but is it safe to say that Sky Stream is Sky Glass
minus the telly, or is this far to simplistic?

Yeah, I think Steve is right that you’d be ok with Stream connected to an audio
device, but I’ll check to make sure.

Hi Mandy,
No, because Sky Glass is a television in its own right.
You could add Sky Stream to a television in your bedroom of course. Or buy a
Sky Glass for your bedroom as well.
All the best
Steve

Thanks for that Barry.
I will wait to hear from you guys that the time has come to give up the dish
for Sky glass.
We currently have an additional box in our bedroom that we only use connected
to a audio system will this also be possible with Sky Glass?
Mandy.

Hi Mandy.
If it’s a channel that’s streaming on Sky, then, yes, as long as AD is turned
on in settings, it should play automatically. However, it it is a third-party
app, like iPlayer or Netflicks, then currently you have to turn AD on in that
app and Voice Guidance doesn’t work for those yet, so we can’t turn it on
independentally.
Incidentally, there are three ways to turn on AD for Sky Q and Sky
Glass/Stream. The easiest way is to use Voice Control to turn it on. The
second best way is to go into the accessibility settings and turn it on in
there. Both these two methods turn AD on globally. The third method is by
pressing the accessibility quick access button on the remote control. For
those with some useful sight, this is the one with three dots. This method
only turns on AD for the currently active channel.
To be honest, Glass and Stream is not ready for us just yet. There are a few
bugs, and those third-party apps are a problem with Voice Guidance, but Sky are
working on them. I’d say that it will probably be good for us in the Summer
this year. In fact, I’d say that once the issues have been sorted, it will be
the best TV platform out there.
Cheers
Barry

Hi Again.
Some people are already using Sky Glass, how accessible is it now? Someone
tells me that it does not have Audio Description currently.
Mandy.
