Not only that but Jaws professional is a rip off as it is in no way different from the standard but is a way of FS squeezing more money out of people who allegedly needs to use professional on their systems!

Subject: [access-uk] SMA Renewal Letter from Sight and Sound - UK

Following on from previous posts about the renewal letter, I phoned
Sight and Sound today to take up the offer of the 50% reduction.

This is where it becomes interesting. The price I was quoted for Jaws Professional version was £190. Now considering that the normal SMA renewal is advertised on their website as £240, this is only a £50 saving, not 50% and works out at 79% of the normal cost. When I queried this I was told that the letter should have said £50, not 50%. When I said that it didn't seem much of a saving, the girl went off to check
and came back with a different answer.

The offer was 50%, but it was based on 50% of £380, which is the cost of an upgrade plus the next two renewals. In other words, the starting price for the offer is the price of upgrading before the SMA is applied. This is fine if you are upgrading, but for those of us who already have
the current version it's a bit of a rip off.

Needless to say, I declined the offer as I would rather have the £190 in my bank for Christmas. I will pay the normal £240 as and when during the next year before the next version comes out. The £50 discount isn't
enough to worry about spread over a few months of saving.

So,for anyone considering taking up the alleged 50% discount offer before the end of December, you might want to consider your options, or at least ask some pertinent questions before handing over your credit
card details. Personally, I think the SMA renewal letter is very
misleading, if not ambiguous. It would have been much better if they had just put the actual prices in the letter when it was sent out so that people know exactly what they are expected to pay from the outset. It looks like a good offer until you get down to specifics. Then it's not such a good deal particularly if this is a renewal of an existing or
just expired SMA.
