Hi Janet.
I used to have a SKY account and to be honest, I enjoyed all the natural
history stuff from people like David Attenburgh. and The movies were better
than I could get on Teresteral television, but to be frank with you, SKY movies
seemed to be repeted to often and the old ones on offer, I had already seen, so
I gave it up, at the end of that contract.
Afterwords I purchased a SKY box from someone on the recycle list for £20 and
this gave me access to the "Preview channels" and for years, this was enough
for me as I love the RNIB's talking book service, which are extremely
distracting.
But earlier this year, I became bitterly dissapointed because I could not
listen to the US Open golf championships, though my family could because they
had SKY.
So I decided to sign up again for an 18 month contract and I'm very hopeful
that the list of available movies is better and that I'll be able to listen to
the Golf, next time it's on.
So I phoned SKY and was astonished to see that I could sign up at £40 a month,
which I think is great.
It's getting installed on sunday, so I'm unable at this time to tell you if
it's any good.
I'll hold onto your message however and when I have a clearer understanding as
to what's available, It would be a pleasure for me to convey this to you.
Very best wishes.
Andy Logue.

Subject: [access-uk] SKY Smart Hub
Hi all.
On Sunday, I'm getting a SKY Smart hub installed by bt.
At present, my home surround system is very compact with dozens of cables
coming from a four shelf glass unit.
On Sunday, I need to incorperate the new Smart Hub and I'm a little concerned
about it's dimensions.
My old SKY box is on one of the shelfes and is about 12 inches by 3 inches by
about 7 inches.
Can anyone please tell me if the new hub is about the same size please. I
think if anything it will be smaller, so I'd have no problems at all. But if
it's a very large unit, this will give me problems because I need to place it
on a shelf, higher up and will need a joiner to drill access holes through the
shelfs for the cables.
My old hub is green I think with a rounded front panel and a straight back.
Any information would save me going shopping tomorrow for drills and
extension power cables.
Any information would be very welcome.
Very best wishes.
Andy Logue.
