Glad you like Amazing MP3, I use Amazing Hi Res recorder, but it’s the same
developer, just different layout.
OK, so just for kicks, change to an English TTS, then turn off the phone and
restart it. Let’s see what happens. If it then works, at least we can send
feedback to the TTS team.

Steve, It’s the Google tts but it’s the Italian version. I can change the
language when I’m writing an sms, notes or what’s app message both for reading
and dictation but not when I’m dealing with the voice assistant which seems to
only understand and speak Italian. I could try an English tts but I assume the
system language wouldn’t change so I would still talk to it in Italian and it
would speak the Italian text with an English accent.
If the problem is connected with the tts engine I wouldn’t particularly mind
changing it when I want to turn off the phone and changing it back again once
everything has started up properly.
The phone is almost three years old so I suspect I won’t be getting many more
updates to Android 8.
Thanks as always for your interest. By the way, your recommendation of Amazing
Mp3 recorder works very well.

I have never seen this to be honest, but which text to speech engine are you
using?
Also, Android 8 is pretty old by today’s standards, we’re on 10 now. But let’s
see if we can fix it.

Well, I suppose this is just to demonstrate all is not entirely brightness and
light even in Android land. Actually, it probably is and I’m just doing
something wrong.
I have a Moto Gee 5 plus updated to Android 8.1.0.
I recently decided to activate the fingerprint sensor and it works flawlessly
if I just need to unblock the screen while the phone is on.
If however I turn the phone off or try to reboot it there is no sound or
talk-back until I enter my pin and I have to get sighted assistance because
there is no audio feedback. Annoyingly the fingerprint sensor doesn't seem to
work at this stage.
Am I doing something wrong? When setting up the fingerprint sensor are there
options which would allow me to re-start the phone without sighted assistance?
Any advice gratefully accepted.

Subject: [access-uk] losing speech on my ipHone
For the last couple of weeks or so, when I end a phone call it often results in
me losing speech on my iPhone. Is anyone else having this problem? Even asking
Siri to enable Voiceover doesn’t help and the phone loses all its usual
navigation noises.
My husband has come to my aid and can usually get things going by disabling and
re-enabling Voiceover but today it was particularly difficult so I had to leave
him with it.
I don’t know what he’s done but I’ve come home to a very oddly-behaving iPhone
which is offering voice bars to expand or minimise and keeps saying “try” and
speaking a screen when I touch a button.
I suspect he has been playing around with the settings. If I do a reset, will
this lose all the apps I have downloaded?
Alisonp.s. it is a 6 SE with the latest IOS settings.
