I'm wondering if it's your antivirus software updating? I think AVG pops to
give notification that it's updating/updated.

Subject: [access-uk] "Pops" from laptop

As my desktop machine "died" on me over the weekend and appears not to
justify the cost of repair, I am being forced to use my Toshiba laptop
extensively at present. I noticed this morning after boot up that it
emitted
occasional "pops" for a few minutes although it now seems to have returned
to normal. I have heard a single "pop" very occasionally in the past, but
not
a succession of them. Could anyone suggest what might be causing this
phenomenon and whether it could be serious. Until I get the desktop
situation sorted out I am relying on the laptop, and if it failed I would be

temporarily "computerless"!

Thanks for any help,

Douglas
this morning it one which, to judge from a thread last week, has had
its
battery
