The answer to your first question is yes you can use all the programs offline 
apart from, as you say, sending Emails.

 

In answer to your second question, there is a box you can tick I think to stop 
updates but, of course, Microsoft wouldn’t recommend it! (smile.)

To all who have Office 365 installed or know something about it.

 

I have some general questions to which I haven’t been able to find satisfactory 
answers from Microsoft’s own info. My apologies that they are so basic.

 

1.       If I subscribe to 365 can I install all the related programmes on my 
hard disk so I can use them even if the internet connection is down or slow? 
Does everything work all right offline (saving, editing, converting documents 
and files etc.)? Obviously this doesn’t include things like receiving e-mails, 
interacting with other web-sites and devices which, in general, by definition 
require a connection even without 365.  

2.       How easy is it to control updates? While I understand their importance 
for security in particular I would at least like to have the power to block one 
that, for instance, breaks some Jaws functionality. Perhaps I’m being a bit 
over cautious.

 

That’s all for the moment – interesting Alison’s experience with the save 
function on Word 365.  I might come back to ask for more

Subject: [access-uk] saving documents in Office 365

 

Since upgrading to Windows 10 and installing Office 365, frequently, when 
pressing f4 to close an amended document, the document is automatically saved 
without me being asked. 

Mostly, that’s fine but I can think of occasions when I may have made changes 
which I’m not happy with and want to return to the document as it was 
originally.

Does anyone else experience this and is there a way to ensure that I am asked 
every time whether I want to save the changes to the document?
