Maybe my message didn't make it ...

I vaguely recall someone saying that this was the case on their Pay as You Go 
with two phones that they'd had for different amounts of time with O2.  (I 
could be wrong though ...)

Can you get your balance with *#10# (that is star, hash, 10, hash)?

I don't know that this is that much help to you but may begin to get you 
somewhere.
