Hi David,
I think you are pressing too firmly on the screen. So the device thinks it's a
slide you're doing rather than an explore.
You need to very lightly move around with the pad of your finger. You may also
be moving too fast, so it thinks it's a flick.
It's hard to tell without seeing what your hands are doing as it were.
But the Nexus 7 is an awful experience. May be worth an update even to a nice
Samsung tablet like the A7.
All the best
Steve

Subject: [access-uk] Nexus 7 Granularity Problem
Whilst I must admit I have had very limited ambitions for using my Nexus 7, I
have found it pretty hard work over the years, I mainly use it for Eloquence
read Kindle books, there seems to be a change in Android which is making it
unusable at the moment.
I am repeatedly being forced into a granularity menu, most often after I am
trying to explore the screen. This appears to be the reading granualrity as it
say characters, Words, Paragraph and default. I keep on double thunking on the
default option with variaying amounts of pressure but cannot seem to clear this
menu.
If I try to explore the screen again I am normally returned straight into
this granularity menu.
I also nowadays increasingly finding myself stuck in the "notification
shade".
Can anybody give me some tips on getting rid of this granularity menu
and how to get out of the notification shade easily.
I have tried the back and home gestures which appear to do nothing. The
home back and overview button also seem to disappear.
I normally have to force a shut down to get out of this menu and even
this is taking me about 6 5-6 attempts before this works.
