Hi Brendan,
Yes, it's interesting you should say many low vision mobile phone users
haven't gone down to the large clear screen route.

Speaking from my experience, I would have prefered, ideally, this approach
as it would have saved me the £150 for talx, lol, even though I love it and
think talx is a surreal piece of software that allows me to do all these
different things with my mobile I couldn't do with the last two.

However, As, when getting my new mobile this year, i tried the large clear
screen approach by going around shops to see the phones in action. That's
the only way I'd know, as many of us, whether we've got a phone that we can
see enough to do texting, dialing phone numbers etc.

However, I do find many of the staff at these shops are not interested in
demoing the phones for me to make that judgement. they'll hand you the
phone, but it's not switched on to look at, they won't do it as the sim's
not registered or, if it's sim free, no one'll put a sim in so I can have a
look. Yeah, doesn't make a difference telling them I'm partially sighted
and need to see the phone's screen. Discouraging to even bother with the
task of searching.

That's why i've gone down the talx route and, i can't really think of
another way of seeing these phones to make a decision. Seeing them online
isn't much good as, their screens are portraid larger than what they are in
real life. Plus, being a magnification user doesn't much help as, anything
on screen is blown up larger than what it really is anyway, lol.

Sounds like a no win situation. Mind you, half of my experiences come from
living in Ipswich. So, might be a different story else where.

Justin
