Hi Mark, I have found it very tedious searching for keys; you just have to go through the lot, I think, as I don't think you can use wild characters with the find command. I am not a registry expert though. I'm reading a book on VBScript, and one of the exercises is to assign a variable to a particular key. The key in question is: "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Logon User Name". I've located everything up until \Explorer, but can't locate the final key. There are also other keys similar to this, but I thought if I could sort the one out the rest would answer themselves. Playing with Regedit is something I don't like doing for obvious reasons. Only I thought I'd try and understand this now before I went any further. Mark
